Grapefruit Hibiscus Tea Smoothies

Hibiscus tea ice cubes are the key to an ultra refreshing smoothie. Simply brew hibiscus herbal tea and freeze in ice cube trays. Use the tea ice cubes in place of plain ice for a fruit smoothie with gorgeous color and a pop of hibiscus tea flavor. Great with citrus fruits, especially grapefruit.

Grapefruit Hibiscus Tea Smoothies
1 large grapefruit
8 hibiscus tea ice cubes
Natural sweetener, if needed

Peel, section and juice grapefruit. (Cut grapefruit into supremes- remove all pith. Discard any seeds.) Add grapefruit sections with juice and hibiscus tea ice cubes to blender container. Cover and blend until slushy. Sweeten to taste.

About the Photos:
I finally got a real camera. Until today, all pictures posted on this blog have been taken with an iPhone camera. (And, as I like to point out- very little patience). I finally gave in and bought a Canon Rebel T2i. These pictures are my first using the camera.

Berry Chocolate Smoothies

Here’s a new recipe for blueberry banana smoothies. A spoonful of cocoa powder is a tasty addition that pairs well with the berries. The result is like sipping chocolate covered blueberries through a straw.

Berry Chocolate Smoothies
1 cup unsweetened vanilla or original almond milk or soymilk
2 medium bananas, sliced
1 cup frozen blueberries
1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder
1 tablespoon pure maple syrup or agave syrup
Few drops pure vanilla

Add almond milk, bananas, blueberries, cocoa powder, maple syrup and vanilla to blender container. Cover and blend until smooth.

Makes 2 servings

Tip: If you like a thicker (and colder) smoothie, blend in a few ice cubes.
